Matcherise guide
How to compare your CV with a job description
A useful CV comparison is more than counting matching words. It connects the evidence in your experience to the responsibilities, skills, and outcomes a job actually needs.

Start with the requirements that matter most
Read the job description once for the shape of the role, then look for repeated responsibilities, required skills, and signals about seniority. A requirement mentioned in several sections is usually more important than an isolated preference.
Group what you find into responsibilities, technical or professional skills, and working context. This gives you a clearer comparison than treating every phrase as an equally important keyword.
Separate evidence from assumptions
For each important requirement, identify the evidence in your CV. Evidence might be a result you achieved, a system you used, a customer group you supported, or a problem you solved. Do not treat a similar job title as proof that the underlying experience is the same.
If the evidence is present but difficult to find, the issue may be how your CV is written. If it is genuinely missing, record that as a gap rather than trying to disguise it.
Look for meaningful gaps
A gap is important when it affects a central responsibility or a requirement that is clearly essential. A missing preference or an unfamiliar tool may be less significant, especially if your experience shows that you can learn quickly.
Consider whether you can add truthful context from your real background. A project, volunteer activity, result, or adjacent skill can improve the comparison when it genuinely supports the role.
Turn the comparison into an application decision
Use the comparison to decide where to spend your time. A strong match should make the relevant evidence easy to explain. A weaker match may still be worth pursuing when the gaps are learnable and the role fits your goals.
Matcherise lets you compare your CV with one or more real jobs, improve the information you provide, and then use that stronger context when tailoring your application.
